A Vision Realized...

After years of volunteerism to preserve the biodiversity and cultural diversity of the Amazon,  Joanne Stanulonis founded the Amazon Institute.  The vision became reality as a result of a unique collaboration between the local people and an American educator.  Together they built an ecological reserve and dedicated over 200,000 acres to the Amazon Institute as protected land.  Together they sent out mailers, spoke to the media and developed tourism to the Amazon, specialized rainforest travel, eco-tourism and the best tours with the lowest rates to vacation and discover the Amazon.

An innovative model of preservation

Today’s Ecological Reserve, Education Center, and rain forest tourism demonstrate what a small group of caring and dedicated people can accomplish.  The project turned out to be more indeed.  It benefits all citizens of our planet in a larger and more extraordinary way.  By increasing public awareness of the culture, which is critically linked to the land, the people have been empowered to hold on to their land.  Increased public awareness has brought more attention to the environmental issues of the Amazon.

Join us in supporting and sustaining this achievement for our time and for future generations by a rainforest vacation with the Amazon Institute.
